"Her Hair Has Grown So Long” is a personal zine project that unfolded over the course of a year, from 2022 to 2023. Rooted in the quiet weight of a year filled with mundanity, the zine was conceived as a memory book: a gift for a close friend in Osaka whom I rarely had the chance to see during that period.

The project documents a year marked by absence, routines, and the small physical transformations that signal the passing of time. Its title, 髪の毛伸びたね, comes from an observation made upon reuniting with this friend: their hair had grown longer since we last met. That subtle change, at once ordinary and poignant, became a symbol for all the days we did not share.

『髪の毛伸びたね』は、2022年から2023年にかけて一年間にわたり制作された個人的なZINEプロジェクトです。静かでありふれた日々の重なりの中に根ざしたこのZINEは、思い出を綴った記録帳として、大阪に住む親しい友人への贈り物として構想されました。その年、私たちはなかなか会うことができなかったのです。

このプロジェクトは、不在、日々のルーティン、そして時の流れを示す小さな身体的変化によって特徴づけられた一年間を記録しています。タイトルの「髪の毛伸びたね」は、久しぶりに友人と再会したときに気づいた一言から取られています。前に会ったときよりも、髪が長くなっていたのです。そのささやかな変化は、平凡でありながらもどこか切なく、私たちが共有できなかった日々の象徴のように思えました。

The zine is composed entirely of analogue photographs taken during that year. The images portray unremarkable yet tender fragments of daily life; scenes that, in retrospect, evoke a quiet companionship despite physical distance. All film development was kindly done by photoshop-izuo in Osaka.

ZINEの内容はすべて、その一年の間に撮影されたアナログ写真で構成されています。映し出されているのは、特別ではないけれども、どこか優しさのにじむ日常の断片たち。振り返ると、物理的な距離があっても静かな連帯感を呼び起こすような風景です。写真の現像はすべて、大阪のphotoshop-izuoによって丁寧に行っていただきました。

The zine is printed in A5 format using hand-ironed packing paper. Each sheet was repurposed from cardboard parcels received during that year, carefully flattened with a household iron and trimmed to A4 before printing. The tactile quality of the material speaks to the domestic rhythm of the time and reinforces the work’s archival intent. Binding was executed by hand in Münster, Germany using a variation of traditional Japanese stab binding.

ZINEはA5サイズで印刷されており、使用している用紙は、その年に届いた段ボール小包から取り出した梱包紙を再利用しています。一枚一枚、家庭用アイロンで丁寧に伸ばし、A4サイズに裁断してから印刷しました。紙の質感は、その当時の家庭的なリズムを物語り、この作品が記録物としての側面を持っていることを強調しています。製本はドイツ・ミュンスターにて手作業で行われ、日本の伝統的な和綴じをアレンジした方法を用いています。
